The Cure might be happy to play the same old show night after night in cities and countries where they haven't been for years, but for North America where they have consistently played over the years, things are going to change.
The band said in a statement on their website, "we want to remodel/rework the live show for North America, change things around, incorporate new songs... and we need time and focus to do this."This message comes after news that the band has postponed their scheduled North American tour to 2008.
The Cure, no stranger to spectacular shows, have set themselves a high bar to hurdle, saying "The schedule as it stands only gives us a couple of weeks to finish our new double album before we hit the road again, and we know this just isn't enough time to complete the project to our total satisfaction.
"The Spring 2008 Cure shows will be even better than the Fall 2007 ones would have been!!!"
Tickets for the cancelled shows will be accepted at the rescheduled shows next year, otherwise refunds are available at the point of purchase.
The band will still play the Download Festival in San Francisco, the MTV Latin America Awards and three shows at Sports Palace, Mexico City on October 20, 21 and 22.
There is no date for the band's next album, but it will be a double disc release.
