Opera maestro Luciano Pavarotti remains in the cancer ward of an Italian hospital, almost two weeks after being admitted for what was reported as a high fever.
Doctors treating the 71-year-old acknowledged for the first time that he was undergoing tests related to his battle with pancreatic cancer. He had a tumour removed in July 2006.He is said to be in a satisfactory condition, with his wife Nicoletta Mantovani telling the Italian media that her husband felt more comfortable in hospital than at home.
Doctors said he should be released in the next few days.
