Bob Dylan has a little gold shiny friend on stage with him every night of his Australian tour. It is his 2001 Academy Award.
Dylan wrote the song 'Things Have Changed' for the Michael Douglas movie The Wonder Boys. He was competing that year against Sting for 'The Emperor's New Groove', Bjork for 'Dancer In The Dark', Randy Newman for 'Meet The Parents' and Jorge Calandrelli for 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'.The trophy sits on the amplifier behind is keyboard and is not mentioned at al during the show.
Dylan performed in Melbourne on Friday and Sunday night and next heads to Adelaide tomorrow and then Perth on Thursday, before finishing off his southern hemisphere stint with two shows in Auckland on August 26 and 27.
