Former New Order bassist Peter Hook has seemed rather angry in recent weeks, taking stabs at former bandmates Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris, but following the death of New Order's mentor and friend, Tony Wilson, he has taken a philosophical side of things.
Writing in his blog, he says "Funny isn't it? I never thought after 30 years in the coolest most indifferent band in the world it would end up like this."[I] get the impression half of you love the bickering and half hate it, plus Tony's passing does make you stop and think? What do we do exercise our right of reply or shut up? Maybe it's like chicken we like to eat it but don't like to know how it ended up on our table?"
The rather depressed sounding Hooky closed his blog with this thoughtful statement:
"You lot want the good bits, the music, without the bad bits? The bickering? I'm feeling hard done by haven't you ever? What did you do?"
The fate of New Order is yet to be decided. While Hooky, who has left, says if it's not the original members it's not New Order (much like why they changed from Joy Division to New Order after Joy Division singer Ian Curtis hanged himself in 1980).
Stephen Morris and Bernard Sumner want to continue. Hooky told them through his blog, "I'll see you in court".
