Sir Elton John has lashed out at the tatty state of modern rock fashions.
In what sounds like a missive directed at both heavy rockers and emo-punk bands, the flamboyant singer has said that style is being ignored. "I'm so over the tattoos and the T-shirts and rings through the noses," Sir Elton said. "It's not pretty, it's not pleasant, it's not exciting. Please stop it now."Sir Elton suggested the modern crop of rock artists look to the British glam rockers of the '60s and '70s for aesthetic inspiration. He said, "It's been a thing the British have always been very good at, with Bowie, myself, T.Rex, The Who, Queen. We all embraced that (fashion) side of it."
Still, Sir Elton found some reason for hope in the modern rock environment, giving special mention to The Killers and Scissor Sisters, describing them as "thrilling".
