Hollywood Funnyman and half of the comedy folk/rock duo Tenacious D, Jack Black, is set to play the role of King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar.
The show is a reunion of some sorts, including cast members from the movie Ted Neely, Barry Dennen and Yvonne Elliman who were in the original movie. They played J.C. himself, Pontius Pilate and Mary Magdalene.Dance legend Ben Vereen will play the role of Judas Iscariot, and the show will be directed by Gary Goodard and Craig Barna.
Proceeds from the event will benefit YouTHeatre America and the Ricardo Montalban foundation.
The show will take place at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Los Angeles on August 13.
