Black Eyed Peas rapper and ubiquitous guest Will.I.Am announces his new solo album.
Mr. Am has spoken to Billboard about the release of his third solo effort 'Songs About Girls', due for release on September 25. He confessed to being "really excited and nervous at the same time" about the latest Peas-less prospect.Far from being a regular suite of songs about girls, the album is purported to be a "semi-autobiographical concept piece". Explaining his part in the continuum of humankind's artistic endeavours, he says, "All the songs could tell a story of falling in love, falling out of love, trying to get back in love, destructing love and destroying love and then starting a new situation. That journey is what makes this unique."
Oddly, for a rapper who is perpetually in the studio on other artist's tracks, 'Songs About Girls' features only one guest slot. Snoop Dogg features on the electroclash-styled tune 'Donque'. The first single from the album, 'I Got It From My Mama', was released on July 20.
But never fear, BEP fans. In between contributing to Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston comeback albums, Will.I.Am has been writing tracks for the collective's next album, due out late 2008.
