What happened to Silverchair on Leno last night? One of Australia's most successful bands this year and for the last decade put on what would have to be their worst performance ever on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Maybe Daniel Johns had a visit from Bono and Peter Garrett in the Leno green room before the show. Who knows? This was one of the most embarrassing performances I have ever seen from Silverchair.The band is currently in California doing press for the impending U.S. release of the new album 'Young Modern'. They performed 'Straight Line' on the Leno show last night but Johns could not reach the notes.
The vocal struggle seemed to go unnoticed for the Newcastle singer, who paraded around giving Hi 5's to his band after the show.
Silverchair has another keynote appearance tomorrow night on Craig Fergerson's talk show in California. They need to make good after the Leno show or give the U.S.A. away.
This band needs good press if they are serious about winning back the U.S.A. Despite the 'Young Modern' album being one of the biggest selling albums in Australia so far this year and the previous album 'Diorama' being a platinum release Down Under, the band has not had any US success since 1999.
Another performance like last night and Silverchair will end up permanently on tour doing the RSL's with The Vines and Guy Sebastian.
