Poor chart positions and profligate labelmates threaten 50 Cent's next album.
Things are looking a little shaky for 50 Cent's forthcoming album 'Curtis'. It has already been delayed until September following a mooted late-June US release. First single 'Straight To The Bank' climbed only as high as number 32 on the US charts in May. The second single 'Amusement Park', a sequel of sorts to 'Candy Shop', didn't even crack the Billboard Top 100 when released that May.Now he has angered his record lable Interscope by releasing the next single 'She Want It' on the internet. The Timbland-produced track also features Justin Timberlake on the vocal hook, and may be the last chance to build up some positive hype about his third album. Interscope reportedly wants Fiddy to focus on the "official" third single 'I Get Money'.
Now, in an interview with XXL Magazine, 50 Cent says he has had to halt the gravy train for the rappers on his G-Unit label. They report that he'd previously spent $8.5 million for his artists to keep an entourage on tour. The final straw was when he realised he was the only G-Unit member in a room wearing their branded sneakers. "It had become the norm for the check to come, but they were no longer wearing the clothes," he said.
