The UK launches their Square Of Fame with honorary Brit Madonna.
As a less gauche (but only because it's British) counterpoint to Hollywood Walk Of Fame, the Square Of Fame has been unveiled in London. Situated outside the famous Wembley Arena, the Square will feature bronze casts of the handprints of the famous, and it kicked off with international superstar Madonna.The material girl is in London preparing the first of eight Wembley shows as part of the UK dates on her Confessions tour. According to Dot Music, her cast was set while she prepared for a show at Madison Square Gardens in the US and were returned to the UK to be made into the bronze plaque.
At the unveiling Madonna said, "I'm very excited about my upcoming Wembley shows and am honoured to be the first performer to unveil a plaque at the Square of Fame. I look forward to seeing other artists adding their handprints alongside mine." When asked exactly who she'd like to see join her, she oddly replied, "Tony Blair and other world leaders."
