Californian experimental hardcore sensations Thrice plan four consecutive releases.
Since the band's inception in 1998, Thrice have evolved through punk, hardcore and metalcore styles until last year's 'Vheissu' album, which incorporated electronics and keyboards. Now the band are taking the baton from conceptual prog-hardcore bands like Coheed & Cambria and going one step further: releasing four consecutive EPs.Frontman Dustin Kensrue told MTV about the four themed releases (apparently representing the elements of earth, wind, water and fire). He said, "I've never been a fan of double albums; I'm a fan of shorter records. This will kind of be just multiple, shorter records, and each one will be self-sufficient. But also, they all tie into each other." The four EPs promise to comprise 25 songs, which they plan to record later in the year for an early to mid-2007 release date.
The hardcore auteur is also finishing up work on his solo album, which is due out in October and he told MTV that he's on the verge of signing with one of the bigger indies. Kensrue is also doing a solo acoustic tour, but speculation that the band are finished were quashed by the singer.
