Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has spoken to MTV about working on their third album.
The band have been taking a break of late, although album number three has been in the works since January and Kapranos has taken time to produce an album from UK act The Cribs. Kapranos said that the band have six or seven songs to go, as well as whipping up a title for the album, due early next year.He admitted to MTV that there wouldn't be a big stylistic shift away from their danceable art-rock although he said, "The new songs have got a much heavier synth/dance kind of element to them." They are also in the process of picking a new producer, suggesting that they won't use 'You Could Have It So Much Better's Rich Costey. A early suggestion is London DJ Erol Alkan, who worked with the band on a recent LCD Soundsystem cover.
The band have been using recent live performances in New York and Glasgow to roadtest some of the six new songs already written. Their titles are: 'Favourite Lie', 'Anyone In Love', Flight Of The Galvatron', A New Thrill', 'English Goodbye' and 'Turn It On'.
