Shakira and Red Hot Chili Peppers lead the nomination way in this year's grand harbinger of high culture, the MTV Video Music Awards.
The Columbian and Californians received seven nominations each - Shakira for her 'Hips Don't Lie' video, and the Chili Peppers for 'Dani California'. Former Blink 182 cover band Panic! At The Disco received five nominations for 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies', along with Madonna for 'Hung Up'.The event, to be held in New York on August 31, will feature performances from Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, T.I., Panic! At The Disco, Ludacris and The Killers, whilst The Raconteurs will provide incidental music.
