Goth post-punk legends The Cure have announced their first Australian tour in seven years.
As the youngsters strive to emulate the chilly new wave and chirpy pop dualism that icon Robert Smith and his band perfected in the '80s, The Cure promise to deliver a teary masterclass via three-hour sets showcasing their twelve studio albums over the last 30 years. The band are headlining Japan's Fuji Rock Festival in July, then hit Hong Kong and Singapore before performing five stadium shows in Australia in August. They then play San Francisco's Download Festival before a jaunt around the US.
The Cure are also still planning the release of their thirteenth album, which has been in the works since early 2006. Following many false start release dates (Halloween last year, March this year) it is still unknown when the purportedly double-album (said to be in the vein of 'Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me') will see the light of day.
Tour Dates:
Saturday August 4 - Challenge Stadium, Perth
Monday August 6 - Entertainment Centre, Adelaide
Wednesday August 8 - Entertainment Centre, Brisbane
Friday August 10 - Entertainment Centre, Sydney
