Ash frontman Tim Wheeler has given some insight into the reasons behind guitarist Charlotte Hatherley's departure from the band.
He explained that he and fellow band members Mark Hamilton and Rick McMurray felt that Hatherley - who had been with the band since 1998's 'Nu-Clear Sounds' album - was more focussed on her solo ambitions. She was asked to leave in January 2006.Wheeler said, "It was our decision for her to go. She wanted the best of both worlds - to be a solo artist and to be in a band. I could tell her heart wasn't in it and it made things awkward between us."
Hatherley released her second solo album, 'The Deep Blue', earlier this year. Ash's fifth full-length studio album, 'Twilight Of The Innocents', is released in the UK in July.
