Shihad frontman Jon Toogood made an unlikely appearance with Crowded House's Neil Finn last week in Auckland during the opening of Finn's studio, Roundhead.
Toogood told Undercover "It was f*cking loud! We played 'History Never Repeats' and 'Give It A Whirl'. I just learned them from my ipod just before."Other artists on the bill included New Zealand legend Dave Dobbyn, who had the hit 'Slice Of Heaven' in 1985, The Mint Chicks and Goldenhorse.
Roundhead is filled with analogue equipment, as well as the latest digital technologies. Their pride and joy is a Neve console originally built for The Who and had spent many years at Bearsville Studios in upstate New York.
They are located in the heart of Auckland.
Toogood is currently living in Melbourne working on Shihad's 7th album, which is due to be released later this year, which is said to be a change in direction... again... for the band, who have been everything from an indie rock band (self titled) to a commercial nu-metalesque band (The General Electric) to industrial metal (Love Is The New Hate).
Neil Finn's reactivated band, Crowded House, are soon to release their first album in over a decade.
Whatever the new sound, chances are it will be angry.
