Kylie Minogue, Julian Lennon, Dita Von Teese and more perform at an AIDS benefit in Cannes.
Aligned with the Cannes Film Festival is the annual benefit for the American Foundation for AIDS Research. This year's host, Sharon Stone, took it upon herself to call upon the many celebrities to contribute 'performances' to help raise money. Notably, George Clooney's contribution was a value-added kiss in a yacht vacation auction. He went along with it, the two vacations being sold off for US$700,000.Producer mogul Harvey Weinstein reportedly spotted Kylie Minogue in the audience and pulled her onstage to perform two songs, and raise $300,000 in the process. She sang 'The Locomotion' and 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head', with host Stone chipping in on backing vocals.
Burlesque queen Dita Von Teese also shook her stuff for charity, appearing in a glittery cowboy suit before stripping down to far less and riding a giant lipstick prop. Julian Lennon contributed by performing 'Stand By Me'.
The benefit ended up raising over $7 million for amfAR, making it the most successful event in the history of the charity.
