Dizzee Rascal's new album will only be available as digital download in US and Canada.
On the verge of the release his third album 'Maths & English', Dizzee Rascal's label XL/Beggar's Group announced that the US and Canada will be supplied with no physical copies. It will be released digitally and physically in the UK and Europe on June 5.Billboard reports that the prince of grime's US label won't have a physical release because Dizzee isn't interested in promoting the album there. National sales director for Beggar's Group USA Rusty Clarke said, "We've always had a difficult time getting him to come over here and do promotion here, and with this album, he's even less available for that."
Dizzee's debut 'Boy In Da Corner' sold 58,000 copies in the US but his follow-up 'Showtime' only cleared 16,000. 'Maths & English' will be available on iTunes, eMusic, Other Music and more, but not in US stores.
First single 'Sirens' is a barnstorming industrial cut and other leaked tracks show great promise that 'Maths & English' will continue Dizzee Rascal's gritty, eerie take on hip hop. Since T-Pain's creatively bankrupt R&B snorefest 'Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin)' is currently number one on US singles charts, the decision is understandable.
