As expected, Linkin Park's 'Minutes To Midnight' has catapulted to the number one spot in the USA, selling around 622,000 units and making it the fastest selling album on 2007.
"We're shocked and humbled by this extraordinary show of support. We invested ourselves entirely into the creation of this album, with the hope that this music would resonate with our fans as deeply as it does with us. We couldn't be more excited about today's news," said guitarist, Brad Delson in a statement.Linkin Park has sold more than 40 million albums since 2000. The debut 'Hybrid Theory' has now sold over 18 million.
While the 622k figure is humble compared to the million plus units sold in the first week in the early part of the decade, the figure is solid for today's market.
The last major first week seller was Jay-Z's 'Kingdom Come' which shifted 680,000 in December 2006.
