George Michael has questioned whether he should continue living in Britain due to the regular media scrutiny of his private life.
In a typically frank discussion with talk show host Michael Parkinson, Michael did little to quell media interest by admitting an addiction to prescription drugs, as well as advocating the use of cannabis. After admitting that for the first time in his life he has started thinking about whether he should be living in Britain, he added, "I have got to think seriously about whether or not my love for my country is keeping me somewhere which is not good for me you know."
Michael pleaded guilty a fortnight ago to drug-driving charges after being found slumped at the wheel of his car in London. He admitted then that he was under the influence of prescription drugs, and admitted to Parkinson that such behaviour, "involves prescribed drugs and it involves a dependency on them."
On the subject of cannabis, he claimed that the drug was far less socially harmful than alcohol, claiming, "We could sit here with any number of policemen and doctors and they would all tell you if everybody who had a dependence on alcohol changed their mind and had a dependence on weed, the world would be a much easier place to live in ... Nobody ever came home stoned and beat up their wife."
