Sydney hip hopper Morganics prepares an all-star hip hop theatre show 'Survival Tactics'.
This hip hop activist has created theatre shows that have been performed all around Australia and even made their way to New York and through the UK. Morganics returns with his new production, 'Survival Tactics', where he incorporates songs, beatboxing, b-boying, body percussion, rhyming, spoken word and action to tell "gritty, uplifting stories of survival."He has wrangled in some of Australia's most creative and exciting new hip hop performers: host of Triple J's hip hop show and Foreign Heights MC Maya Jupiter, Resin Dogs b-boy and choreographer Nick Power, guitarist, producer and Aboriginal MC Wire, Tongan diva and body percussionist Sista Native and Wickid Force Breaker and DJ Bboy Jay.
As a new form, hip hop theatre is a natural marriage of the genre's impressive vocal gymnastics and exhilarating visual appeal. 'Survival Tactics' will have strictly limited sessions in Melbourne and Brisbane in July. It runs from Wednesday July 18 to Saturday July 21 at the Arts House in North Melbourne Town Hall. Then, as part of the Queensland Music festival, it runs at Brisbane's Powerhouse from Wednesday July 25 to Saturday July 28.
