In a sneak attack, LA boogie blues legends Canned Heat have been added to May's Broadbeach Music Festival.
The '60s legends, who played at the original Woodstock and released a double album with John Lee Hooker (called 'Hooker N' Heat'), with join over 70 other acts across four days of the festival at various venues around Broadbeach.The festival is in its sixth year and in 2006 welcomed over 75,000 music lovers. Other acts who will entertain the masses this year include roots stomper Ash Grunwald, US bluesman Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges, cult Oz rockers Chain, guitarslingin' kings Jeff Lang, Kevin Borich and Jimi Hocking, country chanteuse Mia Dyson, and electric Mississippi blues madman Vasti Jackson.
In addition to the broad array of performers, Blues On Broadbeach are releasing a compilation available at the festival or by mail order on their website. The 18-track 'Think Blues' album has contributions from Chain, Kerrie Simpson, Stevie Page, Jimi Hocking, Phil Manning and more.
The Blues On Broadbeach Music Festival runs from 16- 20 May throughout the beachfront area in pubs, cafes, shopping centres and within the mall.
