Following the hugely successful MakePovertyHistory concert of 2006, the campaign hits the road in 2007.
The MakePovertyHistory ZeroSeven Road Trip has been announced, snaring some high profile Australian acts to support the cause. Recent chart-toppers Silverchair, Missy Higgins and Evermore will lend a hand, as well as well-worn touring acts Blue King Brown, Borne, Little Birdy, Dallas Crane and Antiskeptic. The Road Trip is a joint initiative between The Reach Foundation and The Oaktree Foundation. Reach is a youth support network and Oaktree is the youth run aid and development organisation that kicked off the first MakePovertyHistory concert through volunteer Daniel Adams.
Hundreds of youth ambassadors will accompany the Road Trip, which will hit cities and regional centres from July 1 before winding up in Sydney on July 7. Along the way, the Good Samaritan rockers will help spread the anti-poverty message with a series of concerts.
Emeli Paulo of The Reach Foundation said in a press release, "ZeroSeven is reaching out across the country in a never-before seen youth movement to spread the global message. Having the Australian music industry behind us means that we can really make it possible to stage a truly meaningful voice."
