Metal band Slayer has come up tops as a band who produces music for today's brightest youngsters.
The Independent newspaper released the survey results citing Slayer as well as Slipknot as bands most listened to by the top 5% of the country's students.It's a stark contrast to an Esquire article from 1992 that stated "Five out of five kids who kill love Slayer".
The report also found that classical and jazz music, perceived to be the music of choice for the smarter side of youth was in fact the least popular.
Slayer kick off their first Australian tour in five years on April 21.
From July 25, they will co-headline a US tour with Marilyn Manson.
