The Swedish National Tax Board has refused to let a couple name their daughter Metallica.
According to the Associated Press, Michael and Karolina Tomoaro named their daughter after the San Francisco metal band but Swedish authorities will not register the name because it is associated with rock music and metal.Despite the political snub, the couple had no trouble baptizing the girl, who is now 6 months old, with the name.
Under Swedish law, names of children must be approved by the tax authority.
Until the situation is resolved, the couple cannot travel outside of Sweden as they little Metallica cannot have a passport until the name is approved.
