Australia's kings of grinding death rock, Blood Duster, have announced a forthcoming triple album.
The Melbourne quintet have announced that their fourth full-length will be a triple disc set designed to "take music back to the suburbs" according to a portentous Flash voiceover on their dot com. Rather than release a 75-song grind opus, 'The Now Sound' will separate their trademark sounds onto an album each.As part of the unholy trinity, the first disc will showcase their turbocharged rock side. Disc two will return to their classic blasting goregrind, though in a shocking revelation the lyrics to the 22 songs are split between their trademark gross-out satire and a new socio-political angle. The third disc is a "doom/art" opus (that apparently only two members wanted to record) in the vein of Sunn O))) and evil drone and will only be available as a download from their website.
Via a web message, the boys reasoned "When you come to your 15th anniversary in a band, you realise that you need to do more than knock out a new record every couple of years."
'The Now Sound' is set for an April 28 release date. Blood Duster will preview tunes at Bang in Melbourne on Good Friday Eve, are supporting Slayer in Melbourne on April 15, playing Cherry Rocks 007 at Cherry Bar on May 6 and are planning launch shows for June.
