Irving Plaza will be renamed Fillmore New York and Lily Allen will be the inaugural artist to play the new venue.
With Philadelphia also getting its own Fillmore in coming weeks, the New York venue will follow a similar tradition set by founder Bill Graham by promoting new music and upcoming acts.Lily Allen will perform at the new venue on April 11th.
The Fillmore began in San Francisco in 1968 and over the next couple of years was home to acts such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and The Who.
US acts who played the San Fran venue include Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Santana.
The launch of the Philadelphia and New York venues starts a new chain of venues across the United States for Live Nation.
Live Nation also owns the 11 chain House of Blues venues.
