Elephant Eyes announce release of electro-pop tune called – India

The Elephant Eyes kids met rattling around the halls of an old infectious diseases hospital (now posing as a music school). The four met while studying music here, and have combined their love of indie, soul and jazz to make Elephant Eyes. The band’s sound is a cross between Radiohead and Joan as Policewoman, with sweet, sultry vocals from Kate McMahon, Radiohead-esque guitar by Daniel Coco, grooving bass by Tom Fraser, and electronic inspired drums by Stu Hazelman.

Dark, atmospheric and delicately understated: Elephant Eyes announce debut EP

Chronic illness, line-up changes and day jobs have held Elephant Eyes back for the past year, but somehow, through the chill of Melbourne’s unforgiving winter, the band have managed to finish a body of work they are proud of – their debut EP.

Following the release of their second single – ‘Mother Said’ – Elephant Eyes could have been forgiven for giving up on the band altogether. Lead singer, Kate McMahon, was bedridden by illness, and the band’s
keyboard player, Michael Mazziotta, was pulled away by an all-too-heavy workload as a gigging musician trying to make a crust. It wasn’t until Daniel Coco joined the band that things started to pick up speed again.

In a few short months they have integrated Daniel Coco and his guitar into the band and put all the finishing touches onto their debut EP, which they are pleased to release this winter on July 18th 2013.

To celebrate the release of their self-titled EP, Elephant Eyes head to The Workers Club on Sunday 11th August for a matinee show with Susy Blue and Mayfair Kytes.
