The Rolling Stones are to play their first UK festival since their 1976 Knebworth Fair appearance.
According to Billboard, the hoary old rock titans have been booked for a headlining slot at The Isle of Wight Festival on June 10. The festival begins on June 8 and features Snow Patrol, Muse, Amy Winehouse, Keane, Kasabian, The Feeling, James Morrison, Groove Armada, Wolfmother and more. They also report that singer/CEO Mick Jagger will conduct a live webcast on Thursday March 22 on the band's dot com to announce more European dates through the middle of the year, as well as rescheduled shows for those they had to cancel during their 2006 tour.
And while we're at it, Jagger is apparently teaming with freshly-Oscared 'The Departed' director Martin Scorsese to produce a film about the music business called 'The Long Play'.
Scorsese filmed the band during two performances at New York's Beacon Theatre during October 2006. The documentary, tentatively titled 'Shine A Light', will feature backstage footage, historical clips and interviews with the band and is set for a release later in 2007.
