The boutique indie festival - known for its progressive, bold line-ups and clever city locations - from its humble 2004 beginnings now spans 3 countries and 7 cities - Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, Auckland, and Singapore.
“We’re incredibly excited,” say Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio (Laneway co-promoters with Chugg Entertainment in Australasia). “Bringing Laneway to America is something we knew we had to do and we couldn’t have chosen a more quintessentially American city to have it in. Everyone will be just as excited as we are when they hear about the incredible line-up and unique location.”
Acts such as Feist, Mumford & Sons, Florence + the Machine, Tame Impala, The xx and M83 appeared at the event whilst still getting their careers off the ground and into stardom.
“Coming to America is a big moment for Laneway and is the first time an Australian festival has been launched into North America. We are delighted to be working with our partners, who are some of the best operators in the industry and their vision will be integral to the event's success” SXSW said. "We're also really looking forward to getting behind Australasian artists and helping them continue the amazing run of success Aussie acts have had in the States recently."
Some of the world's brightest up and coming artists to play the Laneway showcase at Austin’s celebrated festival today. The indoor stage will host: Palma Violets, Merchandise, Flume, XXYYXX, NO CEREMONY/// and Blessed Feathers. Whilst the outdoor arena has: CHVRCHES, Parquet Courts, HAERTS, ALPINE, Vance Joy and Guards.
