After four years since Camera Obscura are set release their new album Desire Lines on Friday 31 May. Officially marking their return with an intimate charity fundraiser in their home-town of Glasgow.
Preparing for a run of shows at SXSW in Austin, they also performed new tracks for the first time and declared that a new album was in the pipeline.
Recorded last December in Portland working with Grammy-nominated producer Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Spoon, My Morning Jacket) Camera Obscura were pleased with the outcome, returning a month later to put the finishing touches to it.
After the success of 2009’s My Maudlin Career the Scottish six-piece have gone from strength to strength and Undercover.fm is looking forward to their latest offering.
Vocalist Tracyanne Campbell noted it was a positive experience and Martine brought calmness to the recording. She went on to say “Of all our records this was pretty much the most challenging to write, partly because of the situation we found ourselves in with having to take such a long and uncertain amount of time out, but also because it would be record number five and we were getting harder and harder to please. We were also delighted to have Neko Case and Jim James sing on the record too. What a treat."
Camera Obscura’s ‘Desire Lines’ is out Friday 31 May through 4AD and Remote Control.
