Melbourne five-piece Dirt Farmer uncovers their new single ‘Delilah Lightning’.
With a new EP set for release in 2013, ‘Delilah Lightning’ is an indie pop tune full of dreamy surf riffs and pleasant jangly guitars. Anna Laverty (Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Florence and The Machine), the engineer and producer who worked alongside the band, said ‘devil magic made its way into the guitars’. This must be the least scary magic that the devil has every created!
‘Delilah Lightning’ follows the release of Dirt Farmer’s 2012 debut self-titled EP, which featured singles 'Johnny Marble', 'Real Young' and 'Kick It'. The EP is candied indie rock, a fair bit of the lighthearted French popsters Phoenix mixed with a heavier, vibrant version of The Whitest Boy Alive and much less pop than both. Undercover.fm enjoyed the EP a whole lot and now this latest single is making us grin like a giddy schoolgirl.
Their breezy, slacker-pop sound, Dirt Farmer were announced as one of ‘Triple J’s Unearthed’ the top 50 played artists. The past year has also seen the band play with the likes of Husky, Alpine, The Paper Kites, The Rubens, The Trouble with Templeton and Caitlin Park.
‘Delilah Lightning’ will be released on iTunes via Gaga Digital on March 4 2013.
