Creo have released their first single ‘Monday Mourning', taken from their début EP The Memo, with haunting vocals, pounding rock and resonance so raw it demands you listen to it again and again.
Creo – four best mates from Sydney – produce a sound strong on emotion and introspection. Guitarists Jorjee Haman and Brett Fox wrote together during school, adding schoolmates Daniel Tsoltoudis on drums and Alex Milano on bass to the line-up. A solid and seamless mix of melodic pop and alternative rock create a sound like Smashing Pumpkins driving through a field of electric fuzzy distortion. Captivating music most definitely.
A successful creation of heightened excitement and striped back sorrow with youthful suspense. Coupled with refreshing energy sprinkled with ‘party-in-the-garage’ atmosphere you want to join at the sweaty ‘pit at the front. Like well-oiled runaway single-speed bikes hurtling down the side of a mountain, Creo live are skin-tight, even when it descends into rampant pandemonium.
Undercover.fm is mightily impressed with 'True' – a brooding intro and absorbing chorus – and 'Blue Hearts On Valentines' – nearly ten minutes(!) showcasing Creo’s total ability for soaring moments of giddy rock and lulls of sheer menacing darkness.
The Memo produced by the ARIA award-winning Jimi Maroudas (Eskimo Joe, Worldfly, Tim Rogers) is sure to leave scratch marks all across the back of 2013. Maroudas knows they’re the real deal and was impressed by Creo’s preparation, saying "they came to Melbourne prepared like no other band that I have seen. We all worked incredibly hard to create their debut EP."
Get your greasy mitts on The Memo – at undercover.fm we know if you like distortion, fuzz and overdrive with the upmost respect for dream pop you’ll want it. In fact you’ll damn well need it.
The independently released EP is available digitally on iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, Google Play and streaming on spotify, rdio.com, JB HiFi now and iHeartRadio to name but a few.
