UK trio The XX is scheduled to make live appearances in select cities across Australia to promote their second album, Coexist. The last time they were here was just in July 2012, when they did a couple of intimate gigs in Melbourne and Sydney.
Melbourne and Sydney sold out quickly for the 2013 tour. XX have since announced new shows in these 2 cities.
The XX tour dates in Australia:
- Tuesday, April 2 – Metro City, Perth
- Thursday, April 4 – Festival Hall, Melbourne (sold out)
- Friday, April 5 – Festival Hall, Melbourne (new show)
- Saturday, April 6 – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney (new show)
- Sunday, April 7 – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney (sold out)
- Tuesday, April 9 – Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Brisbane
The trio, known for their dual vocal parts, have been captivating audiences all over the world. They have quickly become one of the bestselling bands in the indie scene. Since meeting at the Elliot School in 2005, they have dedicated themselves to indie and dream pop. A simple instrumental collage of synthesizers and electric guitars adorn most of their records. Their melancholy style and detailed lyrics suggest a certain longing. The combination of the two voices draws fans closer to them on every show.
After their tremendously successful debut album XX, the group’s popularity rose quickly. Even after the loss of one of their members - guitarist and keyboardist, Baria Qureshi, they were still going strong. At the Australian tour expect to hear a mix of their songs from both albums including “Crystalised”, “Angels”, “Islands” and “VCR” being the obvious ones.
