Melbourne three piece " Heavy Beach" have just released a tidy little E.P that channels mid 90's garag-esque guitar sounds that slide seemlessly into a 21st century groove.
The trio describe themselves as "psych-pop-grunge", not many would or could argue with this description on hearing the self titled E.P that was unleashed 3 days ago. Comprising of Ali Edmonds (Little Athletics, Damn Terran, Ali E), Mark Renall (Howl at the Moon) and Clayton Pegus (Spun Rivals) this Melbourne trio already have some tasty runs on the board with their other projects.
The whole E.P was a local project from go to woe with the recording taking place at the "Fairfield Warehouse" that has produced so many exciting musical treats in the last 18 months and mixed out the back of Thornbury records by Clayton. Not only a very local project it was strictly a team " Heavy Beach" effort. The E.P was recorded at said warehouse by Clayton Pegus and Matt Storey (Howl at the Moon, Papernecks, Tinsmoke), produced by Clayton Pegus and Ali Edmonds and mastered by Jack The Bear. It's a joy and pleasure to see bands taking every aspect of the process into their own hands. Makes for a very satisfying listen and one you know is every bit the way the band intended it to be.
"The Heavy Beach" self titled E.P is available right now for your aural pleasure here. However, the more exciting vinyl version will be out on November 21st.
Heavy Beach will be playing a launch show on Friday 30 November at the Gasometer with Lowtide, Nite Fields (Brisb.) and Atolls.
