Green Day has recorded a cover of John Lennon's 'Working Class Hero' for a John Lennon tribute album to raise money for Amnesty International's campaign to end the Darfur genocide.
'Instant Karma: The Campaign To Save Darfur' was produced with the approval of Yoko Ono and under the guidance of former Warner Music exec Jeff Ayeroff. The Green Day song is the lead track off the album and a video is planned for the track.
Other artists contributing to the album include REM (#9 Dream), Willie Nelson (Imagine), Christina Aguilera (Mother), Black Eyed Peas (Power To The People), The Cure (Love) and Regina Spektor (Real Love).
REM's '#9 Dream' is additionally interesting as the line-up of the band includes original drummer Bill Berry who left REM 10 years again.
