ARIA have announced the 2012 nominees who will compete to reign supreme in one of 20 categories. Also announced are this years winners of the fine arts and artisan awards.
For those that don't want to read the extensive list of nominees, here's a little breakdown. That loveable, cheeky son of gun (my tongue is in my cheek) 360 dominates the nominations for 2012. Six categories bear his name, ALBUM OF THE YEAR, BEST URBAN ALBUM BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT, BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST - RELEASE and BEST MALE ARTIST. His collaboration with GOSSLING, Boys Like You, is one of ten nominees up for SONG OF THE YEAR.
Gotye is up for five nominations including, ALBUM OF THE YEAR, BEST POP RELEASE for Making Mirrors, BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT and BEST MALE ARTIST. His Dad, Frank De Backer has won BEST COVER ART alongside Wally for their work on Making Mirrors. Another star of the Gotye machine, the genius Francois Tetaz has very deservedly won ENGINEER OF THE YEAR for Making Mirrors.
