Illegally downloading material from the internet has been a no, no in Japan since 2010. It is only now that the Japanese are enforcing strict penalties on perps.
Apparently the action comes after heavy lobbying by the Recording Industry Association of Japan, who believe, that for every legal download that occurs their are around 10 illegal downloads occuring.
If you get caught downloading illegally in Japan you can now expect a nasty punishment of either up to two years in jail or up fines to two million yen ( AUD $ 24691.00). Nasty.
