First Aid Kit return to Australia once again for both the Falls Festival in both Lorne and Marion Bay and the Southbound Festival in W.A. They have just announced that they will also two special shows in two very special locations in Melbourne and Sydney to welcome in the year 2013.
With the release of their second full length album earlier this year "The Lions Roar", First Aid Kit have won fans all over Australia and also count Patti Smith and Jack White amongst their admirers. After listening to a session at his Nashville-based Third Man Recording Studios in 2010 Jack White announced " I wanted to just sit there and listen to them rehearse over and over again,". The duo moved high priestess of punk Patti Smith to tears with a live performance of Smiths 1979 single Dancing Barefoot.(see below)
With a healthy diet of The Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, Television and David Bowie whilst growing up and vocal inspiration from the likes of Billie Holiday and Judy Garland, it wasn't until the girls heard Bright Eyes for the first time that they served as an impetus to make their own music. Their interest in Bright Eyes took them further along a path of discovery , giving them an appetite for Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell.
For their third Australian tour, the Swedish sisters will welcome the new year in their most compelling settings yet: Sydney Opera House's Concert Hall and Melbourne's Forum Theatre.
