It is a well known fact that Cheap Trick drummer and co- founder Bun E Carlos has had some time off from touring with his band Cheap Trick over the past couple of years. Now it seems the rest of the band have forgotten he exists.
Firstly, Bun E Carlos has never been replaced as Cheap Trick's drummer, Rick Neilson's son has been filling in on drums in a live capacity, however Carlos is still the official, original drummer for the group. Secondly no one has ever replaced him on drums in a recording without his prior knowledge. So what the hell are Tom Petersson, Rick Neilsen, and Robin Zander doing recording a Christmas song for the Special Olympics without Bun E?
Bun E would also like to know. He recently updated his facebook page with the following;
"Bun E Carlos, Cheap Trick's founding member and longtime drummer joins all Cheap Trick fans in supporting the Special Olympics, but wants all his fans to know that he was not invited to participate in the track attributed to Cheap Trick scheduled to be on the Special Olympics Christmas album. Bun E stated, "There are no Led Zeppelin records without John Bonham and there's no Leave It To Beaver without Jerry Mathers! I remain humbled and grateful for the support of Cheap Trick's fans and please support specialolympics.org and their very important initiatives."
And now, here are Cheap Trick, the way they were in all their 1978 glory with one of the best songs ( if not the thee best song) to perform your own personal choreography after a beverage or two with another Cheap Trick fan(s).
Dream Police. Sooooo good and soooo sad Bun E Carlos has been snubbed....so sad. Maybe after all these years the band can't take his smoking inside anymore?
