The new album for John Butler Trio, 'Grand National', will get a global release in late-March.
The fourth album from the feisty and eclectic roots rock trio features thirteen tracks, including the first single 'Funky Tonight' which reached number 12 on the ARIA charts and number 12 on Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2006. The band co-produced the album with Mario Caldato Jr, who is well regarded for his work with Beastie Boys, Beck and Jack Johnson.The album also features guest spots from Beasties collaborator Money Mark on keyboards, afro-cuban percussion master Ray Pereira, jazz pianist Jex Saarelaht, soul sisters Vika and Linda Bull, jazz outfit The Hoodangers, and roots staple Nicky Bomba with his percussionist and keyboardist Michael Caruana.
Currently on a promo tour of the northern hemisphere, the Trio have secured a worldwide release for 'Grand National'. It will be launched in Australia on March 24, in the US, New Zealand and France on March 27 and sates to be announced for Japan, the UK and Europe.
The band will do a national tour but for now they appear at Perth's West Coast Blues And Roots Fest on March 31, Sydney's Great Escape Fest on April 7 and Byron's East Coast Blues And Roots Festival on April 8
