You may recall Regular John from a few years ago..? Their debut album "The Peaceful Atom is a Bomb" was a triple j feature album and scored the band Big Day Out appearances, ARIA nominations and the declaration of Best Rock Act at the 2009 Rolling Stone awards. Bizarrely oblivious to what all the kudos was about they went to sleep for three years.
They've just woken up. Slume is the first single from their upcoming album Strange Flowers due for release September 14th 2012. Their are two definitions for the word "slume", the first being from the old english sluma meaning to "sleep lightly or slumber" and the second a shirt that has been turned into a pair of pants. I'm pretty sure the first definition covers the song" Slume " the most satisfactorily. Not that it puts you to sleep...
Sleepy vocals combine with a cacophony of slow paced sonic soundscapes to produce the sonic version of pulling a cone or two as the case may be. It's not what I would typically class as stoner rock, it doesn’t have enough grunt but it does sound like it's drenched in THC. Check it out below
