Beastie Boys beggar belief that they've got a new album almost in the can.
Although we'll believe when we hear it, Beastie Boys have told Billboard magazine that they're putting the finishing touches on a new album for release "this summer", meaning mid-2007. It has only been three years since their minimalist 'To The Five Boroughs', and the trio have been taking longer and longer to release new material. It was four years between 'Ill Communication' and 'Hello Nasty' and another six for them to put out that 2004 effort. The now elder statesmen of New York brat rap have been more and more active of late, regularly performing live and releasing an "amateur" live DVD 'Awesome, I F***in' Shot That' featuring the edited work of fifty fans documenting a Madison Square Garden show.
Adam Yauch aka MCA told Billboard that they'll actually be airing some of this apocryphal new material on their upcoming shows. Cross your fingers and catch them headlining the Sasquatch Festival in Washington in May, or on their in depth European tour in June where they'll perform in Portugal, Turkey, Germany, France, Belgium and Poland.
