Sean 'Diddy' Combs will face charges in a Los Angeles court after he allegedly punched a man outside a Hollywood nightclub.
Court papers cited by gossip site TMZ.com reveal that Combs is being sued by 27-year-old Gerard Rechnitzer, who was reportedly unhappy at the attention his girlfriend was receiving from the rap mogul at an Oscars after-party.As previously reported on Undercover, Rechnitzer claims he went to ask his girlfriend to leave with him, at which time Diddy yelled an obscenity, followed by the poetic threat, "I'll smack flames out yo' ass!". The suit alleges that Diddy made good on his promise.
Attorney Benjamin Brafman, representing Combs, dismissed the suit - in which Rechnitzer seeks unspecified damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and punitive damages - as another case of litigious opportunism, describing the claims as "completely baseless".
"It is just another example of an opportunist seeking to fabricate a lawsuit based on a flat-out lie to try to take advantage of Mr. Combs' celebrity status," Brafman said in a statement. "Mr. Combs did not hit anyone, and Mr. Rechnitzer suffered no injuries or damages whatsoever. There is no case. It is that simple."
