Okay, so usually this wouldn't be newsworthy, right? I mean hey, I ordered takeaway on the weekend. The difference is, I walked a block to pick mine up, whereas Kayne ordered it from across the world.
West has ordered a curry from the British Raj restaurant near Newport in South Wales, to be delivered to a meeting room in Manhattan for West and seven other executive types. The restaurant's head waiter, Tarik Mohammed told reporters, "I was horrified when I heard about this request because of the distance involved. It's a long way, and our reputation is on the line. We are doing every thing to make sure the food gets there safely and every thing is aboveboard."
The centerpiece of the meal will be a special Ayre fish and be adorned with onion bhajees, chapati breads, biryanis, pappadums, a specially prepared fish dish and vegetables on the side.
The head chef will accompany the food to New York, constantly monitoring temperatures during the journey. He will fly by helicopter to London Heathrow airport, then accompany the food across the Atlantic from there.
The total bill? Over $US3,900, plus expenses and accommodation for the chef. While the restaurant usually doesn't deliver beyond a 3 mile radius, they've decided to break their rule for this special occasion.
