As previously reported, Hard-Ons axe grinder, Blackie was attacked and injured whilst driving his cab. Blackie sustained head injuries that will see him unable to work for two months at the very least.
As such, the Hard-Ons were forced to cancel shows and the financial pressure this puts on the band and Blackie is huge. The Hard Ons operate on a shoestring budget and Blackie, being self employed, will have no income while out of work.
The underground music community have banded together to show their support for a band and a bloke who has contributed so much to Australian punk music. The contribution of Blackie and The Hard-Ons is impossible to measure and as so often is the case with some of the greatest bands Australia has ever produced, the band have never been rewarded in the form of an income. The Hard Ons remain a very expensive hobby for all members, subsidised by second jobs.
On Satdee June 9th The Tote Hotel in Collingwood will host an awesome lineup with all proceeds from the
show going to Blackie. There will also be a raffle and merch for sale giving punters plenty of opportunities to contribute to the cause.
The lineup is as follows; REGURGITATOR, THE MEANIES, THE SPAZZYS, DEAD, BAT PISS
Tickets go on sale Monday 28 May from Oztix http://thetotehotel.oztix.com.au/ and The Tote Hotel Front Bar.
In the meantime, anyone wishing to donate to Blackie's medical bills or those who just wanna show support for him over the next few months can do so via the band's Paypal address: rahn666@yahoo.com
