Jay -Z is not the first to make the "discrimination" comparison.
Miley Cyrus questioned those not in favour of same sex marriage on Glamour.com "How is this different than having someone sit in the back of the bus because of their skin color?"
Jay- Z a long time supporter of Obama told CNN that the anti same-sex marriage sentiment "is no different than discriminating against blacks, it's discrimination, plain and simple."
The L.A Times has reported that American voters remain divided on the issue. Ballot box polling has indicated that gay marriage is a particularly sensitive issue among African Americans. It was recently reported by The Times that in "2008 more than 9 in 10 black voters in California backed Obama, then overwhelmingly voted for Proposition 8, the successful ballot measure to overturn the state Supreme Court's decision allowing same-sex marriage."
Yet, there is overwhelming support for legalising same-sex marriage across many communities worldwide. It won't happen over night but it will happen.
