Two dolphins have died of an overdose after being given the heroin substitute Buprenorphine by ravers attending a weekend long rave at Connyland Zoo in Lipperswil, Switzerland.
Initially it was thought that the dolphins died due to the pulsing music at the rave amid prior protests by activists that it could adversely affect animals that use sonar. However, The Huffiington Post has revealed that leaked toxicology reports showed the recreational drug Buprenorphine in the systems of both dolphins. Apparently the drug has the tragic effect of closing down the part of the brain dolphins use to make a decision to go to the surface in order to breath.
The deceased dolphins apparently would have died slow and painful deaths. The Zoo has denied any wrongdoing even though this is not the first time a dolphin has died at one of their raves. In November 2011 a dolphin by the name of Shadow died after a Connylands rave party. At the time it was reported that the techno music contributed towards the dolphins death.
