Formed in 1976 in Queens, New York, The Fleshtones combine fuzzed guitar and Farfisa organ with 50s rockabilly and 60s R&B into a potent retro stew they called “Super Rock".
Last here in 1993, The Fleshtones have been confirmed to return appearing at the behest of the Hoodoo Gurus for Dig It Up! and now Feel Presents are pleased to announce two headline shows for these pioneers of 'Super Rock' .
I don't know what's going on down at Feel Presents, however all Melbourne headline shows (apart from the 5,6,7,8's) resultant from the Dig It Up! extravaganza appear to happening on the same night? Considering Melbourne is the rock n roll capital of Australia, nay the world and with so many venues available I wonder why The Sonics, Redd Kross and now the Fleshtones are all playing on the 27th of April in Melbourne. This is even more of an incentive to grab a ticket to Dig It Up! in Melbourne in order to be able to experience all these legendary bands plus more in one day.
Supporting the Fleshtones will be will be former Dream Syndicate front-person Steve Wynn who is yet another invitee of the Hoodoo Gurus on Dig it Up!
If you are a Libran Melbournian and are currently chanting "eeny meeny miny mo" in order to make a decision about which sideshow to attend, just go and grab a Dig It Up ticket and have the best of both worlds.
