You can understand the disappointment and reservations held by Queen fans at the announcement that American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert would replace Freddie Mercury.
Number 1, he is not British. Number 2, it can be compared in the fans minds to Led Zepplin reuniting without Robert Plant ( who is alive and kicking) and slotting in one of the members of One Direction to take his place. Number 3,4,5,6,7,8 and the list goes on, but we haven't time to list every complaint.
The reformed Queen will headline the second day the U.K Sonishpere event in Knebworth where QUEEN played their final gig with Freddie Mercury in August 1986.
Speaking to NME, Sonisphere festival organiser Stuart Galbraith has responded to angry fans by telling them that if "they are looking for a Freddie Mercury show, then they aren't going to get it."
Great! Queen fans must be thrilled. Original member of Queen Brian May remains optimistic by stating on the Sonisphere website "Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy. It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush."
As with anything if the songs are good enough, which no doubt they are, the performance of the frontman shouldn't affect the whole picture. Adam Lambert is not Freddie Mercury but he has proven that he has got the voice to contribute well to the songs. Its not about individuals it's about the songs.
